Review : I am shocked of all the complaints I have read. I am very happy with my lamp. We have had it for 3-4yrs.now.
Another fire hazard story... (Rating: )
Review : I purchased this lamp this spring and loved it, but it was always difficult to turn on... then one morning, I went to turn it on and it literally blew up and started spewing smoke and when I rushed to unplug it it started sparking at the outlet until I turned off the breaker.
Owned for a year now.....maybe look elsewhere. (Rating: 2.00)
Review : Like many other "Target" purchases I've made, I've regretted buying from them. Their items look nice, but do NOT, I repeat NOT, last! We've owned this particular wooden torchiere floor lamp for over 1 year now, bought it when we moved into our new home, and expected that a $40 purchase would last for a while. The swith the changes the light from the low setting to high glitches, flickers, and is a pain in the behind! You get off the couch to turn the light on, walk back to the couch and it starts flickering between the low and high setting, so if you turn it on low, it'll flicker off, if you turn it on high, it'll flicker to low. It's just a pain! If you walk past it running or walking quickly, it'll flicker. It's just not made very well, and it's never been dropped or mishandeled! The design is beautiful, wooden base with a white transparent top, next time I will spend more and get a more quality lamp. Another flaw is that it has chrome accents, I use this lamp in my living room, and it looks more like an office lamp. It is quite difficult to find an inexpensive (less than $65-70) floor lamp that isn't too "office-looking". The base, also chrome, gets extremely dustly quick , there's no point of cleaning it. All in all, it looks pretty decent in your home, cheap price, but it's not quality. After 6 months to a year, you'll see it glitching. If you care about that type of thing, look at other lamps, maybe not from Target. The more I buy from Target, the less I want to buy from them. A fan I bought from them (also another $40 loss) falls apart, bends easily, the front cover falls off, just junky! Another item I bought from them - a $20 baking pan - all the nonstick came off within 2 months with light use. Now it looks horrible and wore down to the metal...another loss. See? Target's convenient, but not the best deal in the long run. Good luck!
Broke in 3 months (Rating: 2.00)
Review : I liked the lamp until one day I picked it up to place it about 2 feet from where it was previously standing. Upon placing the lamp back on the floor (lifting it about 2 inches of the floor mind you), I found that the middle section had disconnected and would not then re-attach. I wouldn't usually describe Target products as junk, but in this case I am afraid the word applies. I am currenly waiting for another lamp to arrive at the store (its been about 1 1/2 months now) so that I can exchange it, as the lamp broke just a day over the 90-day return period.
Classy Lamp (Rating: 5.00)
Review : I was happily surpised by this torchiere, and it is very well priced. The metal finishes are brushed steel, not satin, but are very nice. The base is quite heavy and the the entire lamp is pretty steady. The wood is stained (not painted) but is slightly darker than I thought it would be, like a medium walnut. The glass is also heavy. It uses two 200-watt bulbs and has two levels of brightness. I've put two of the torchieres in my living room, which has vaulted ceilings, and I was able to do away with several small table lamps, which also freed-up space on my end tables. It has a high-end look and, frankly, I was surprised to find it at Target.
Have had mine for over 3 years... (Rating: 5.00)
Review : I don't know what people are talking about when they say this lamp doesn't last. I bought mine over 3 years ago and it is still going strong. It has moved once and is now next to a door and sometimes gets hit. Even thought the top is alabaster glass it has not broken (its pretty thick). All I can say to those whose burnt out. With all lamps like this one you do need to dust it frequently so that the dust doesn't collect in the bowl and burn out your sockets. That happens with even the best lamps (not to mentions dusting keep the light stronger) I love being able to set the light to low/high without buying special bulbs. This is a great lamp to own in a new home or apartment. Good luck
NO PROBLEM WITH MY LAMP! (Rating: 5.00)
Review : I got this beautiful lamp three years ago as a gift, and am happy to say that I have not had one problem with it. It never caught fire, does not flicker, the glass hasn't broken, it's not on carpet. Of course, this can be due to the fact that there are no kids or pets in my apartment, which would contribute the the above-mentioned problems. For those of you who are reading the very helpful customer comments following this one, you will notice that there are more positive than negative comments, which means that it is worth it to purchase this lamp. Just make sure you write down the name of the manufacturer (Adesso- more detailed info provided in one of the comments following mine), just in case you have any questions or need to purchse any replacement parts.
