| Apple iPod Dock Connector-to-FireWire-and-USB 2.0 Cable (Windows PC Only) From Amazon (US) for $27.75 |
Pretty Straightforward to Use, but Great Anyway (Rating: 5.00) Review : Basically, most people don't have a Mac computer, so most people only have USB connectors on their computers. So go to TARGET and get this Dock Connector for $14.95. It works great for USB ports, and the great Apple interface makes updates a breeze. Overall, great product for computers other than Macs. Fuctional (Rating: 5.00) Review : I was surprised by the fact that the USB cable wasn't included with my iPod, I was disappointed when I first got my iPod and wanted to put songs on it. It needs to be clearer that this cable is necessary for Windows users without FireWire ports. Also, if you look at the information on iPod on apple.com, it makes it sound like the dock is also a necessary purchase for a Windows, when it actually isn't. This product works fine, no flaws after almost a year of owning an iPod. Indespensible for iPod users! (Rating: 5.00) Review : The USB 2/Firewire dock connecter cable for the iPod is an essential tool for anyone who owns an iPod. Not only does this tool allow you to communicate to your iPod with USB 2.0 (which is a bit faster than FireWire), but it is also the only way to sync your iPod while you simultaneously charge it from a wall socket. That's right, the supplies included with the iPod allow you to sync over FireWire, or charge it from the AC adapter. However, you cannot do both! Therefore, this cable is a fully functional and completely essential accessories for your new iPod! USB 2.0 worked relatively well. A few things that users should know: USB 2.0 shares bandwidth with all devices that are using the master hub. Therefore, the more you have hooked up, the slower the speed for each device is. I happen to just be using the iPod with my USB 2.0 PCI card. Another note: the iPod cannot take full advantage of USB 2.0. The iPod can only handle the 400 Mbps data transfer rate that FireWire supplies. The extra 80 Mbps does not make a difference in this situation. Using this cable initially for my iPod (my computer's OS is Windows XP), I found the installation painless, and it works as advertised. |
