However, it is very noisy and the prosessor is simply too small for all but the most basic chop/grate jobs.

If the going gets heavy, there is a distinctive smell indicating it is overheating.

The blender seems to be fine.

The idea of two-appliances-in-one is great.

In actual practice, at least in this case, there are too many trade-offs.

Even though I only use the processor occasionally, I believe I would look for a full size, decently powered model that couldn't be heard three houses away when it is turned on.

Review : Despite the nay-saying of my girlfriend on the likely quality of a two-in-one appliance that was reconditioned to boot, I recently bought the cuisinart BFP-703FR combination blender/food. It has been a pleasant surprise.

First off there was no discenable wear and tear on the unit that arrived. My girlfriend's first attempt to demolish it with heavy on the ice fruit smoothies was rewarded with you guessed it, high quality fruit smoothies. Reassuringly the base had no tendency to "walk" across the counter during the blending process. The food processor is easy to swap onto the base, and performed equally well. Guys, buy one of these and you too can tell your girlfriend "I told you so!"

Review : O.K., I admit that I was a bit skeptical at first. I had an old Kenmore food processor and blender combo that had been handed down through the family. I loved it, but pieces were breaking on it and it just wasn't worth the money to fix. My husband bought me this for Christmas and I didn't think it could hold up to my old Kenmore. Well, it does a wonderful job! I love the glass pitcher and the food processor chops so quickly and easily. It even outperforms my old one! I am extremely happy with this product and I recommend it highly. The only thing is that the food processor can only hold up to 3 cups. That is not a problem for my family, as we never really used all of the 5 cups on my old one. However, if you use your processor for large quantities of items, it may not large enough for you.

Review : After 20 or 30 years my Oster died. So I thought I'd 'upgrade'.

Cuisinart does not impress. The top for the food processor arrive shattered and was replaced promptly--no fault there. Since then the base has lost bits but still gets by. The plastic used is obviously on the brittle side.

Things that would blend quickly in the old Oster hang and make you shake and bang the blender to get it going again. The blades are recessed in a depression and that obviously isn't as smart as the open design.

Frankly, it is more form over function for this product. The motor is a little underpowered; the fancy button are fancy without adding functionality; quality takes hind seat to pizazz.

On the other hand as a limited needs item in a small kitchen the duet function is appealing. If your needs are limited and you don't make frozen drinks or coldslaw every weekend, you have something that will serve and probably fairly well.
