WORKS PERFECT ! On All DVDs ,VHS , Cable TV (Rating: 4.00) Review : First, the good part - "jgamiere's" review is Totaly Wrong! The Sima CT-2 works on ALL TYPES OF MACROVISION.(LEVEL 1&2) It is the Sima CT-1 that does not work with VHS to DVD. If you want to confirm this go to - www.videoguys.com This item works exactly as claimed. If you own a DVD-RECORDER. This unit allows you to make "backup" DVD copies of all your copy protected DVDs and VHS tapes and Cable/Sattelite Recordings. You must press the input button when using S-VHS cables after you turn unit on. Or you wont get any picture. The unit lights up RED when swtich to the S-Video input. So that should be easy enough for you. The Sima CT-2 is perfect for you if you want a small very easy to use copy-guard remover that makes perfect copies of all DVDs & Tapes and Cable / Sattelite TV Recordings So what you really need is a unit which will fully override both types of Macrovision, and to my knowledge, the only thing available is the SIMA SCC-2 Color Corrector 2. This thing is expensive ($150-200 bucks), but it's worth it if you have a big video collection you'd like to transfer to DVD-R. I hope this helps anyone out there who bought a bunch of VHS tapes and simply wants to transfer a few to DVD. Jeez..... I've tried a number of copy removers in the past and the CT2 is the best I've seen for the price. I have seen other removers that appear to have the same features, but cost much more. Unlike other 'black box' copy protection removers, the CT2 has S-video in and out ports so you can maintain the high video quality when making a DVD copy. This unit should work well in copying protected VHS to DVD as well, though Sima makes a less-expensive CT1 for this task. Of course, the CT2 should only be used to back up media you already own under 'fair use' provisions. The price is great at Amazon as well. Much lower than the one you see in the local Best Buy. jb |
