| DEWALT DW378G 7-1/4" Heavy Duty High Torque Framing Saw From Amazon (US) for |
So far so good! (Rating: 4.00) Review : I purchased the DeWalt framing saw for a christmas gift for myself. I was a little skeptical, after reading a few of the reviews here on amazon, and decided to look into wheather or not the saw would live up to the challenge of the jobsite. Having worked with the M77's for my entire carpentry career I knew that they would be hard to beat. We currently have 3 M77 and my DW387g on the jobsite. Slowly over the past 6 months it has begun to see most of the action. It has plenty of power, and my fellow co-workers have come to enjoy the smooth action, good balance and light weight. The only real problem that I have found with the saw is that when making cuts on 5/8" or 1/2" plywood the saw is so light weight and the saw slides so smoothly that it is hard to make straight cuts, but who's going to see that on a roof anyway. Overall the saw is very powerful, light, and easy to handle. The drawbacks are almost to light-weight, and I'm still worried about the gears stripping out someday. Not a bad tool to add to the jobsite. the best (Rating: 5.00) Review : Dont buy anything but this saw. for balance to weight ratio-nothing better. I'm a framer and use this saw every day for thousands of cuts- The balance is so good I'll cut plywood on a ladder 20' in the air.I've cut through the cord three times, changed the bearings etc. the saw just keeps on going-not bad for a dewalt. Nothing else even compares. Great Saw (Rating: 5.00) Review : I am a journeyman carpenter and use a lot of different saws on site, but this is the only saw I feel meets my high expectations. I bought one for myself when they first introduced it and immediatley was impressed. The speed that it can cut a microlam beam is impressive. Any other saw would just bog down. I've owned it for about 7 years and I wouldn't think of trading it for anything else. Wormdrive wanna-be (Rating: 5.00) Review : I always like to try new tools. When I got my new DeWalt framing saw, I loved the weight advantage it had over my old Skil wormdrive. It's not much lighter than my newer Mag 77. The balance is different though. It took some getting used to . The rafter hook is just one plus I have come to love. I miss it when I'm using one of my Skilsaws. The extra power is a nice touch if you're ripping with a dull blade. An excellent tool overall. Why do I find myself still reaching for my Mag 77 ? Real power house (Rating: 5.00) Review : Had the 378 for a few weeks and I'm very impressed with it. The power to weight ratio is about that of an Indy car. The saw actually wants to twist on start up. I'm right handed so the left hand blade gives a great view of where your cutting but safety glasses are a must as it throws a lot of material at your face. It seemed cheaply constructed at first but after much abuse nothing's broken. The only suggestion I'd make is allow the blade wrench to be stored on the saw somewhere and an electric brake would be nice. Overall Great saw. DeWalt hasn't let me down yet. |
