Review(s)

This comes with INSTRUCTIONS (Rating: 1.00)
Review : I registered on-line for one of these when I was getting married because it is so pretty, but (luckily) never received it. So when I saw it on sale at Williams Sonoma last month, I bought one for me and one for my mom. I took them over to her house and unpacked one kettle so I could make her some tea. The kettle never saw the bottom of the burner after I read directions such as (paraphrasing begins here):

1) Never fill the kettle past marked line or splattering of boiling water may occur.

2) Never leave water in the kettle or it will be ruined.

Mom's and my thoughts on the matter went roughly like this:

Marked line? You mean where the color changes? 1/3 of the
way up the side? It's the only line I see...You mean to
tell me I can't make a whole pot of tea without using this
kettle at least twice???

and

Geeez...I don't want to have to remember to carefully dry
my teakettle after EVERY use!

These were not the only instructions, as I recall, simply the most irksome. I think these are reasonable things to "gripe" about, as one reviewer put it. I would only recommend this kettle as a lovely decoration for a movie set, or for a very fastidious solo tea drinker. Needless to say, I returned both kettles I purchased and got two OXO brushed stainless uplift kettles instead (which mom and I both love so far).

Mine rusted, too (Rating: 1.00)
Review : I received the kettle as a gift--and it ought to have lasted a lifetime. It did not. As other reviewers have noted, the inside of the kettle rusts and cracks within months. I only wish I had kept track of the warranty; it broke my heart to put the kettle in the trash.

Color not what I expected (Rating: 3.00)
Review : I was looking for a really red kettle - this one is red to orange, with some brown at the bottom. Not what you'd expect looking at the picture. I've read the reviews, as well, and see that you don't want to leave water standing in it for long periods. Not sure it's worth the money.

I want my money back (Rating: 1.00)
Review : I was really excited to get my first le creuset kitchenware, but only to be very disappointed - the kettle started showing rust on the inside within two months which rendered it completely unusable. I felt awfully cheated, and especially so because I had bought it at a very reputable gourmet cooking store in san francisco!

My advice - steer clear of enamelware and buy stainless for durability.

Genuinely Happy with My Teakettle (Rating: 5.00)
Review : i have been looking for a teakettle for a long time. after much research and skepticism, i decided on Le Creuset's Cherry Red teakettle. i fell in love with the design and i had to get it despite having read such bad reviews about it. my advice to anyone getting this teakettle is to spend a little time reading the Directions carefully before using it. it is a little fussy there. no water spilling, smells or scalding IF just follow the directions. i am very happy with my teakettle and i hope you be the judge for yourself. it is after all a lifetime guarantee.
