A Le Creuset junkie (Rating: 5.00) Review : I cook exclusively with Le Creuset, and I love this skillet as I do all my other pieces. They cook food beautifully and are easy to clean. The only time I had something to really stick, I was able to get it out by putting a little detergent and water in the pan and heating it up a bit. The stuck-on bits floated right up to the top. Excellent skillet (Rating: 5.00) Review : This is a great piece for the kitchen. We've cooked all kinds of things in it and it doesn't cease to impress us. The handle does get hot, but Le Creuset makes heat pads for the handles so this isn't an issue (just be sure not to get it too close to the flame if you're cooking on a gas stove). Though not non-stick, it's easy to clean and always looks great. Don't hesitate on buying this item. Not a Creuset strength (Rating: 2.00) Review : Creuset cookware is terrific for what it is. . .but I don't find the skillets very useful. I have two, one of which is this ten inch. Like other Creuset cookware, this skillet is built to last for at least a generation. The down sides are that 1) It's really heavy. The thickness of the metal gives you good heat distribution, but it's awkward to pick up, and that's a problem for a skillet in particular, as you often want to shake it to toss what you're sauteeing. 2) The handle is not insulated, and it gets hot, especially the part close to the pan. 3) If you turn the heat up past medium you risk ruining the enamel. 4) The enamel is not no-stick. (I actually don't mind this so much, but some do.) Creuset is terrific for certain things. A cast iron skillet is useful to have around, but I think you're better off with a plain old black skillet, as made by Lodge, for example.
