First, the tire's on this unit are inflated with air versus solid rubber. This makes for a real nice tire, until you happen to come accross a misplaced nail. I have had one flat tire so far but I have to believe that won't be my last one.

Secondly, this very small and cheap looking leg they put on the front of this machine has to go. The first time I hauled this unit I tied it down on both sides, but it still tipped on its side around the first corner I took. I just don't understand why they didn't put two strong legs on the front. After a few trips, I finally had a friend of mine weld up some strong supports that are actually wider than the unit. I no longer have to worry about it tipping over and busting the windows out of my pickup cap.

Like I said earlier though, this is a real nice unit that is nearly perfect for what I need it for. It starts every time, even in the WI cold and the power it generates has been very reliable.

Review : Just ran my 400XL for 56 hours straight due to hurricane Isabel and it ran like a champ! Have had this unit for 3 years and it is quiet and reliable starter. Runs for just shy of 13 hours on one tank of fuel, while powering my refrigerator, freezer, microwave, sump pump, TV, and living room lights. This unit never came close to shutting down due to overusage. I highly recommend this generator.

faulty oil pressure switch (Rating: 3.00)
Review : WE bought this generator as a emergency power unit about 3 yrs ago.we have run it for a total of maybe 40 hours.the last time we used it,it ran for 1hr. then shut down. would start right back then do it again. unit is full of oil.unpluged oil pressure switch now it will run. this unit is not very quiet but still quieter than some coleman generators.factory should include extra switch and symptoms of this problem in manual.

Review : Starts first pull every time. We bought this Generator to power a Trailer (& house during rotating blackouts). Since the 5th Wheel only requires 30 Amp service, this Generac powers everything at once: A/C, Water Heater, Refrigerator . . .

Although it is quieter than our lawn mower, it's still a bit noisy when run all night. We also looked at Honda Generators. In general, they were quieter, but MUCH more expensive. (Would have been 5 stars if it were as quiet as a $1600 Generator).

Review : I recently purchased my Generac 4000 EXL for my RV. ( Also for my home, in the event of rolling power black-outs. The product is very sound in design with big generator features at a economical price. I especially like the pressurized oil system for the engine as it will extend the life of the engine. The electric start is a "must have" for a portable generator. (even more so for a RV) The automatic idle control is great and helps with noise control. (The unit tends to be a little noisy when under a heavy load.) The generator is compact and can easily be stored in the RV.
I have found the generator to be able to handle all my power needs. Even when the AC unit is turned on the Generac 4000 handles the power needs without problems.
One note:
I did purshase a three year service contract on the unit just to take care of any problems. So far I have had no problems with the unit.
I highly recommend this generator...
