But WHO CARES? This unit works so well that most people don't have to place it in the bedroom - simply put it in the living room or hall, and it will put out enough moisture that in 1 - 2 days the entire space will be humid. I've tested this two ways: 1) my children stopped coughing from dry air, and 2) I own a humistat that measures the relative humidity. Both indications tell me that it works over a large enough area, and all I did is place it in the front hall.

SUMMARY - a great large area humidifier with a few rough edges. Place it out of the bedroom, let the air circulate by just keeping the doors open, and it's fantastic.

Review : We've had ours for about 3 months. It's quiet, clean, easy to fill, and very efficient. It can be filled in the kitchen sink in less than 2 minutes. No additives required. It's output is about 2 gallons a day and I haven't heard my wife complain at all about those little dry-skin cracks she used to get on her fingers. If the so-called glug-glug noise really bothers you, you need a white noise machine for sleeping.

Review : After buying this two weeks ago, I operated it as the instructions request (and didn't turn it off). I used filtered water, but soon mold starting building up, and the smell was horrible. Removing the top, I found a large amount of black mold growing along the top. Washing the wicks in bleach accomplished little. This may work in an arid reason with little mold spores in the air, but in a Northeastern city, it is unhealthy. The wicks are hard to find, and I can't afford to replace them every week.

Review : This was a great disappointment. After reading reviews of other Vornado models and complaints about the loud knocking that periodically comes from air entering the water tanks, I decided to discount these complaints. After all, this is a new model and it is advertised as "bedroom quiet". I figured that the manufacturer had solved the problem. Wrong! The humidifier fan is actually very quiet but loud knocking woke us up repeatedly during the night. I would give this humidifier the highest 5-star rating for its use as a humidifier. However, since we cannot use it at night in the bedroom, its use is limited. We try to keep it on during the day and turn it off at bedtime. This is, otherwise, a first class humidifier. Why can't Vornado solve this problem?

Review : I bought this for my small apartment. It's supposed to be multi-room, but I can't even feel it in one room! I first tried moving it to the hallway in front of the two bedrooms. I didn't notice any difference in humidity. Moved it to my bedroom, still didn't notice anything. I woke up gasping for breath because it felt so dry in my bedroom! I originally bought this cause I thought it would be an asset for my newborn, and because I trust the Vornado name, but this product is a piece of crap. A little Bionaire humidifier that I bought a couple years ago for half the price did a better job of keeping my bedroom humidified. Now I wish I hadn't thrown it out this past spring ( I got tired of cleaning it). Where is the cold air and condensation on windows people keep talking about. It's dry as the desert in here, and I'm sitting next to it! Anyway, I'm returning it. Whether it's defective or something else, I'm not buying any Vornado branded humidifiers again.
