"A rather BIG surprise" (Rating: )
Review : When Harry Potter came to the big screen, I did NOT go to see it. I was of firm standing that it was kidd stuff. Then, a few weeks ago, the people on abc2 news had it on as a "movie event". I figured since it was free, why not watch it?

Harry Potter (Rating: 5.00)
Review : I have 'Harry Potter and the Philopher's' Stone which is exactly the same as 'Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone'.

Before I saw the movie I had read the books. The Movie lived up to the book well, just with a few changes because of time.

The Story is about a boy who goes to Hogwarts school of witchcraft and wizardry.

The movie stars Daniel Radcliffe ( "David Copperfeild" ) as Harry Potter and he plays the part very well. Emma Watson and Rupert Grint play harry's freinds Hermione and Ron, they acted very well considering it is the first time working on a movie. The movie also stars famous actor's such as Richard Harris, Maggie Smith, Robbie Coltrane, Alan Rickman, Julie Walters and Zoe Wannamaker.
Directed by Chris Columbus who directed movies such as 'Home Alone 1 & 2', 'Mrs Doutfire' and 'Bicentenial Man'.

The DVD is great letting you tavel Hogwarts and Hagrids Hut. Facing chalenges, catching the snicth, finding the Philosopher's Stone ( Sorcerer's Stone ), Deleted Scences, Interviews with the film makers and more...

The disapointing thing is that it didn't have a comentary or interviews with the cast and they really SHOULD of had the trailer for 'Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets'.

Over all this is a GREAT!!! DVD to buy.

helloo! its the best! (Rating: 5.00)
Review : harry potter is the BEST series in the world and kj rowling is sooo talented!!! there's a reason why harry potter's so popular! get THEM ALL

TOO true to the book (Rating: 3.00)
Review : Having read the first three Potter books, I looked forward to seeing the big screen dramatization of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. The book contained so much action (and little introspection) that the material seemed ripe for an entertaining and action-packed film. Unfortunately, the screenplay tries too hard to be faithful to J.K.Rowling. As a result, the film is lifeless and at times confusing, with little of the suspense it should have. There is a decided lack of focus to the story because it tries to contain too much. I suspect the screenwriter faced a no-win situation: to successfully adapt the novel to the screen, aspects would have had to be cut or changed to accomodate the different medium, thereby disappointing fans of the book, but to remain faithful to the book meant sacrificing dramatic thrust.

The highlight of this film is the casting, which is simply brilliant. Emma Watson as Hermione Granger stole every scene she appeared in; her intelligent, headstrong Hermione with a fiercely loyal heart is perhaps the most fully realized character in the movie. That doesn't mean the rest of the acting is inferior. Daniel Radcliff looks the part of Harry Potter, and is convincing with his good-natured bewilderment and unexpected bravery. Alan Rickman,as the creepy Snipes, and Maggie Smith, as the stern but protective Professor McGonagle, are adult standouts in this cast.

Although this movie was worth seeing, I would have been happier to wait until the release of the DVD or VHS version.

Magical and enchanting just like the books! (Rating: 5.00)
Review : "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone" is the first installment to the Harry Potter film series, based on the wonderful novels by J.K. Rowling. In "Sorcerer's Stone", we get introduced to Harry Potter (Daniel Radcliffe), a young British boy of eleven who lives with his mean Uncle Vernon, Aunt Petunia, and spoiled cousin Dudley. The Dursleys try to be a perfectly normal family--they despise everything that seems out of the ordinary--but they also have a secret which Harry will soon learn. Harry is actually a wizard! He's just been accepted into Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, and this is where the adventure begins. Harry learns the truth about his past from the friendly Hogwarts Games Keeper named Hagrid, and during his first year at the magical school, Harry makes friends, arch rivals, and even mortal enemies as he starts his training in the magical arts.

For anyone who loves the books, you must see this film. The acting is outstanding by the entire cast...most of the actors fit right into their roles. The special effects are superb and engaging. The storyline follows the first book pretty well, though they had to take out some of the book. The film is just about how I imagined it would be as I read the book. Daniel Radcliffe is the perfect Harry Potter! The DVD is OK with seven deleted scenes, a self-guided tour of Hogwarts, interviews with the filmmakers, behind-the-scenes look at the making of "Sorcerer's Stone", DVD-ROM extras, and more. The bad thing about the DVD extras is that, to get to the deleted scenes, you have to play a game every time and it gets a little annoying after a while. All in all, amazing film and I can't wait for the next one.

I highly recommend "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone".

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone-Widescreen Edition (Rating: 5.00)
Review : This was the first installment of the Harry Potter series; it all depended on the actors and the filming. All in all, I think that they did an awesome job. From Harry's Aunt Petunia and Uncle Vernon all the way up to the scenery, they did a good job doing what the movie was made to do: Stay true to the book and provide a great movie. My only complaint was that Albus Dumbledore didn't have a great show of character. He played the role all right, yeah, but he didn't expand it to improve the role. Well, I guess you can't have everything you want in life but this about has it all: Two thumbs-up for Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone!

The Best Movie of 2001 (Rating: 5.00)
Review : Harry Potter is a great movie that the whole family can sit down and enjoy. And the Harry Potter series has a big future. This is the first one in the series that introduced the school of withcraft and wizardry that Harry Potter would be going to. It's called Hogwartz. It introduces many characters such as Harry himself, Ron Weasley who becomes Harry's friend, Hermione Granger who also becomes Harry's friend, Draco Malfoy who is Harry's enemy, Albus Dumbledore who is the headmaster of Hogwartz and many more. Get your kids, get this movie and watch it. Trust me your going to love it. It's great fun really. Then when your done this one go to the store and get Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets and then see Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban in theatres.
