Shattering Entertainment! (Rating: 5.00) Review : This is a fantastic suspense thriller, rich in Hitchcock influence and filled with numerous twists and turns. It is by far the best mystery in recent years. Tom Berenger is a recovering amnesiac who has survived a near-fatal car crash with his wife, Greta Scacchi. After undergoing successful reconstructive face surgery, Berenger tries to piece his life together to recall his identity. The partner of a high-powered San Francisco architectural firm, Berenger begins to feel out of place when he can't seem to remember his old designs or his friends. One by one, those closest to him secretly tell him contradictory details about his life and his marriage. In some accounts, he treated his wife badly, while in others he was a good husband. Although the stories don't add up, Berenger is certain of one fact - his wife recently cheated on him with a shadowy man named Jack Stanton while the couple and their friends were vacationing in Mexico. With the help of a private investigator, played by Bob Hoskins, Berenger discovers that Stanton is still alive and that his accident may have actually been an orchestrated attempt against his life. Torn between who to believe, his instincts and his paranoia, Berenger delves deeper into his past only to find a stunning and shocking conclusion - that either himself or someone close to him has killed in the past... and must inevitably kill again to protect a dark and terrifying secret. Shattered - DVD (Rating: 5.00) Review : I have several VHS tapes that are many years old. Their quality is starting to deteriorate. With all of the really dumb movies out on DVD I can't believe that Shattered has not been released on DVD. Shattered is no. 1 (Rating: 5.00) Review : I gave this movie 5 stars because it is ,in my opinion, one of the best suspense movies. The whole time, this movie leaves you guessing. Just when you think Merrick finds his memory ,you guessed it. It's shattered again! All the cast,from Tom Berenger to Bob Hoskins are brilliant.The writing and directing were wonderful. Shattered Mind (Rating: 4.00) Review : Great Wolfgang Petersen mystery! When Tom Berenger awakes from a bad car accident he finds he can not remember much. He begins to see flashbacks and his conversations with others help him to realize who he really was and who was murdered. This is one of the better movies I have seen Berenger in and I enjoyed it. Good supporting cast, music, and sets. Well worth owning on DVD. If you like this be sure to catch Tom in "Shoot To Kill" which will also be out on DVD soon and in "Sniper". Very entertaining thriller! (Rating: 4.00) Review : When is this film going to be on DVD? A well-styled thriller mystery with a great cast. Tom Berenger does well as a confused amnesiac who just wants to get to the truth behind his accident--even if it means he discovers things he doesn't really want to know. The ever-lovable Bob Hoskins plays the detective who helps him uncover the truth. Greta Scacchi is his loyal wife (with perhaps a few secrets?). This film is very engrossing and entertaining. Even though I usually can guess the way a mystery movie is going to go (I am getting pretty good at predicting "who dunnit") this movie had a few more twists that I anticipated. I really enjoyed the surprises in the plot. There are some unanswered questions left unanswered, and more than a few plot holes. But still--don't let that keep you from enjoying the mystery. It's a greatly entertaining tale. It certainly is due for a DVD version! |
