It's a wonderful tool! (Rating: 5.00)
Review : I have a pressure washer, a Makita sander, a dual-action air powered sander, a torch, and some other things for prepping prior to painting. This tool is really something! It's removing the old paint from gutters and security bars faster and better than the Makita, and it comes off mostly in small chips which means I'm not covered in dust and I don't feel the need to wear the full respirator.
Don't confuse it with a steel scraper. After using those scrapers for awhile on the bars I can feel that I had to apply much more force to those scrapers in order to get the paint to come off. It just pops off with this carbide scraper. Also, the steel scrapers feel like they're flexing in my hand. The carbide is very firm.
I can sharpen the edge with a diamond "stone" if I'm careful about preserving the angle. Why am I sharpening it? Well, I tried to deburr a 1/2" hole drilled in a mount for the iron bars and put a chip in the cutting edge. So, don't try to use it as a deburring tool! It works great otherwise, and keeps its edge if not abused.

Worth the Price (Rating: 5.00)
Review : I achieved far superior results in less time using the Sandvik 1" scrapper than I did using several competing brands. The blade stays sharp, is kinder to wood surfaces than others and successfully removed decades of paint from the wood baseboards and window frames of our 96 year old apartment. The edge is particularly efficient in corners and with fine carvings.

The only scrapers to buy (Rating: 5.00)
Review : Yes, it costs twice what an ordinary steel scraper costs- but it's worth a hundred ordinary scapers.

I'm just finishing up what became a two year remodeling project, and I can't begin to recount all the times I or someone else used my Sandvik scrapers to prep a surface. We scraped hundreds of feet of molding, flooring, trim and just about every imaginable flat surface. This unit- the 1" model- was ideal for cleaning out the old molding, working close to an edge, etc.

It cuts lightly or deeply depending on the pressure you apply. You can gently scrape off a pain run or drip with it, or you can dig through multiple thick layers of ancient paint.

I actually have a complete set of three Sandvik scrapers in 1", 2" and 2-1/2" widths and I wouldn't part with any of them.
