Review : I have this and my kids just love it. It makes great softserve ice cream. Ice cream does need to be very hard for it to work correctly. Also it does seem to waste some ice cream. I gets stuck in the spindle and you can't get it out unless you take the unit apart.

Review : I am reading all the negatives regarding this machine and can't understand what you are talking about. I bought it because my 3 year old son was obsessed with getting an ice cream maker and I didn't want to get one that actually made the ice cream, or something I had to purchase mix in order to make. I love it, the kids love it. Granted it took some getting used to, I realized if you turn the machine off in between cones it makes life a whole lot easier. Mine does not have a pulse button so I don't know what that is about. I just buy the gallon tub when it goes on sale and that gives us quite a few servings of ice cream. I have never had to cube my ice cream my ice cream scoop does perfectly fine at filling the chamber. I do agree that having to fill it several times to make enough is a bit of a pain but we aren't dairy queen I don't want a commercial ice cream maker. I want something small and compact that will give me a blizzard like experience when I want it without actually having to go to DQ. So as an all around product that really has no match on the market, I think Black & Decker has done a decent job with this one.

Review : I just bought this last night and had soft serve ice cream in less than 5 minutes! I did put the parts in the freezer for about 15 minutes and the ice cream was relatively soft before using. It DIDN'T take two people to operate because you DO NOT have to hold the on button down. And any ice cream left on the grinder thing just went right back into the freezer for next time. I am very impressed with this machine. I read all of the reviews before I bought it but my husband loves soft serve so I bought it anyway. Tonight I'll try mix-ins since clean up was a snap with just some hot water. And at $15.00 at Home Depot I think it is a great find.

Review : The idea of soft serve cones spurred me to buy this item, but it turned out to be a lengthy, time-consuming process to get it to work. Now, whenever I want a soft-serve cone, I look at this machine sitting in the corner and contemplate if it's worth it. It's not. My husband, kids, and I usually decide that the hassle of driving to Dairy Queen 20 minutes away is less hassle than dealing with this machine. However, if you have time on your hands, like fooling with gadgets and messy, melting ice-cream (you have to serve it immediately; can't wait for everyone to eat theirs at once, and don't mind the headache of constantly filling this machine, then maybe you'll like it. It's too much headache for our family, although in theory it seemed fun.

Review : I considered all aspects of this machine designed to make soft serve treats and decided to purchase. I was happy and surprised to learn the Arctic Twister on/off switch stayed on during operation till turned off. I tried the Twister using the pump action tool supplied and using only the plunger to press down the ice cream/cookies/candies/etc. I found using the plunger alone easier so I will most likely use the pump action attachment for company/parties. I found the ice cream creamy in taste, attractive/festive in appearance, and clean up to be quite easy using the faucet sprayer after use. As for the ice cream that does stick to the grinder... the grinder slips off and ice cream can be scraped fairly easily into a spare bowl. I'm glad I tried and will keep one and give another as a gift.
