Beginner's Only (Rating: 4.00)
Review : Yamaha is really good at producing good-sounding guitars at low prices. Unlike other cheap guitars at the same price, these don't sound horrible. However, Yamaha is merely average when it comes to true guitarists' guitars. I do think that Squiers Fenders sound better, but I don't recommend Squiers for beginners. Generally, Squiers tend to require more maintenance, and maintenance is the one thing a beginner shouldn't have to deal with. Yamaha guitars are pretty well built, and are much better than cheaper Squiers, even though Squier guitars are much better at the higher price range. Many Squier guitars that cost around $200 are not that good. For example, the Squier P-Bass tends to have loose knobs, the Bronco just sounds horrible. Squiers are only good if you're an intermediate guitarist and buy the more expensive ones.Another thing about Squiers. They are not as well built as some Yamahas. Their amp jacks tend to get loose every once in a while. Another important thing for beginners. The necks on the Squier guitars tend to be bulkier than the slimmer Yamaha necks. The slimmer necks make it easier to play if you're a beginner. If you're a beginner, I recommend this product, but if you're not a beginner, I don't think you'd need me to tell you to buy something else.

Review : This was my very first electric guitar kit. I got it from Costco few years back. Now Costco has replaced it with Fender fake-strat (squier I believe). EG-112 is much better than the fender. It has one humbucker pickup which sounds much better for heavy riffs. The guitar is well made for a sub $200 kit. The tuners are good and hold tune fine for long periods of time. But heavy use of tremolo arm can put it out of tune pretty fast. The fretboard is good quality . The frets on this guitar are much better than what I saw on the Squier. But they are kind of small and the fretboard itself is pretty thin. So if you have fat fingers, stay away from this guitar. After 2 years of constant use (atleast 1-2 hrs every day), the pickup selector became loose and I had to constantly play with it to select the right pickup. The amp is very good for bedroom levels and for portability. If you are into hard rock/metal you HAVE to invest in a good distortion pedal, else it will be hard to get the chunky palm mutes. Now, if I have $200 to spend on an amp and a guitar today, I would probably not but this kit. For $200 I would get a brand new Yamaha Pacifica guitar ($169 at guitar center) and a small used solid state amp (<$50). Ofcourse this setup would also need a good distortion pedal. All said, anyone who plays electric guitar would know that you will never get anything close to "great" for $200 (amp+guitar). You need to spend atleast around $450 for a decent sounding setup. ($200 guitar + $250 amp). With a good setup, the learning curve would be much better. summary: yamaha EG-112PR is good if you do not have any guidance on what to buy and just wanna start off learning without wasting couple of months just trying to figure out whats the best gear for your price range.
Awesome, and Cheap (Rating: 5.00)
Review : If you are just going to start to learn to play guitar, then this is the dream guitar for you, also comes with amp. This guitar's sound quality and durability is really good, i was suprised, it is not the absolute best, but it is really good for starters or someone who wants a guitar but doesn't want to go to far with it.
Nice Guitar, Good Price (Rating: 4.00)
Review : You get everything you need with this package. The Guitar is great but the straps a little small but its ok. The amp is pretty small so any distortion you put on it will turn out sounding less than pleasant. The guitar book is pretty good although there are better ones. It comes with an extra set of strings and picks. Its a good deal, i highly recommend it.
great guitar (Rating: 5.00)
Review : I bought this guitar when i was 15 now i'm 17 and i still have the same guitar, its still in great condition and great sound still comes from it. This guitar might cost less than other guitars but the tone, the harmonics its amazing how good this guitar sounds. I recomend everyone wanting to be a guitarist or for a gift for a friend to buy this great Yamaha guitar. It's great, no flaws at all.
Great for beginners (Rating: 5.00)
Review : I love this guitar. It is well built and great if your a beginner. It even includes an amplifier. $200 for a guitar and amp: great. It has cool tuning machines. I have a more advanced guitar though now. I have a BC Richard's now because this one got too small for me and my fingers don't fit on one string now. I recommend BC's if your advanced but the Yamaha guitar is good for people just starting or for the younger people.
